ARTIST TALK WITH HANNAH KINDLER

the 27th of November at 5 pm / den 27. november kl. 17:00-18:30

Hannah Kindler’s work engages with the complexity of identity and uses textile as her primary material. Drawing on historical research into textiles, myths and women’s history, she develops alternative narratives that bring marginalized or overlooked perspectives into view. A central part of her practice is the exploration of care, motherhood and collective forms of knowledge – topics she also investigates within M.A.R.S., Maternal Artistic Research Studio, which she co-founded.

During her current residency, Hannah is working intensively with printmaking for the first time. Her time in the studio is dedicated to experimenting with printing techniques and translating her textile research into graphic forms. In the artist talk, she will share insights into her projects, processes and her first explorations with the medium of print.

Hannah lives and works in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. She studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (NL) and completed her MFA at the Dutch Art Institute in Arnhem (NL). In 2023–24, she was a guest student in the MA program Theory and Poetics of the Performative at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart (DE).

Nordic meeting 2024

Fyns Grafiske Værksted has had the pleasure of hosting this year's Nordic meeting for printmaking studios.

We have had 2 subject for the meeting; Sustainability and knowledge-sharingThis time, in addition to the presentations from the participants, there was a "Print Battle", where the participants tested some of the different materials that are new to the graphic market and more sustainable. The result was exhibited at Funen Printmaking Studio in October in the exhibition room on the 1st floor. There was free access during opening hours for everyone to view the results.

In this way, we hope to be able to document that the new materials can be used and how they are best used.

We had visitors from Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Sweden, Estonia, Norway and Canada, in addition to Denmark.

The Meeting was supported by the Nordic Culture Fond, which is supported by The Nordic Council of Ministers
